Foster carers are more than welcome to find out what fostering with Rainbow is like. If you are ambitious, the sky’s the limit! There is no obligation if you contact us to explore the possibility. At Rainbow, we are always interested to hear the reason(s) why a foster carer(s) might be contemplating making a switch. Some carers are looking for a fresh challenge and feel they would like to make more of their skills. We provide carers with the opportunity to explore what might be involved in different types of fostering. There is a real need for more carers able to foster therapeutically and we have some great training programmes built around this more specialised foster care. Our focus is always to provide the best, most well-matched foster homes for our children and young people.
Those who have made the move to Rainbow, have often done so because they have heard about our Rainbow family ‘community ethos’. This is a vital part of our company culture and lies at the heart of all that we do. All our foster carers know that they are part of a vibrant family that prides itself on its diversity and inclusivity.
Rainbow has been rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted; we believe that foster carers are professionals and should be listened to respected and supported; we are not too big and not too small – not owned by a large corporation; our staff are highly professional with years of experience in all aspects of foster care; we provide high-quality free training and are responsive to requests from carers for training in particular specialisms; 24/7 support; strong, well-established relationships with our local authorities; we always go that extra mile to care for our carers as this enables them to provide the best care for our children and young people.
Remember: under the Transfer of Foster Carers Protocol, any carer may move to another agency and any child they already have in placement can transfer with them.

We are keen to talk to foster carers considering any aspect of providing care that interests them. And particularly how they might develop their career further. Areas for discussion might include foster care pay, respite foster care, how to foster a child, foster care near me and foster care meaning – your ideas and goals.
There are many private foster care agencies but Rainbow is a long-established independent provider. And we never forget that carers always have a choice so we strive to meet their expectations. We have been finding homes for vulnerable children for well over 20 years. Quite a few of our carers have been with Rainbow for over ten years – some even longer.
Apart from the regular social events and activities for our children and carers, we have our annual foster carers awards. This is a major event always with luminaries from the world of foster care and child care. Last year the keynote speech was delivered by Javed Khan the chief executive of the world-famous charity Barnardo’s. You can get a flavour of the glitz and excitement of these from following the links below. http://rainbowfostering.co.uk/foster-carers-awards-all-wrapped-up-in-true-bollywood-style/ and – http://rainbowfostering.co.uk/foster-carers-awards-motown-2018-team-rainbow-style/
If you are thinking of making a move right now, we are holding meetings with applicants and carers over Skype. This is very easy to do and we have produced a leaflet explaining how to do this. You can, of course, contact us and one of our advisors will provide step-by-step instructions to help you set up the call.
Finally…the children in our care are as unique as you. They all have different needs just like you. We all have different experiences, skills and abilities. Life will have taught us many things – valuable lessons we can pass on. At Rainbow Fostering we are interested in what you have to offer a child – as an existing carer that will be considerable knowledge and experience. And that is what matters most. It will determine if a child will thrive in your care. We will need to know your age, marital status, religious belief, ethnicity, sexuality and if you are a homeowner or not. But these are facts and circumstances about yourself. They do not tell us if you have the passion, resilience and commitment to support and shape the life of a child. To be at their side through the good times and bad. And then be unwavering in sharing their dreams, hopes and aspirations. If you can do this, we will be with you each step of the way helping to fashion your new life – just as you will be fashioning theirs.
